Wawanesa Wee Care Inc. |
JR. Kinder Kids and Kinder club
In the spring of 2015 Wee Care introduced their jr.k program along with our Kinder Club. This program was started to meet the needs of our pre-schoolers preparing for kindergarten, and for our kindergarten kids to enhance the programing they receive in the Wawanesa School kindergarten class.
Staff in this program work hard to create a play based learning environment that will use parts of the curriculum from our kindergarten teacher. 4 year olds will have opportunities to work on important self-help and problem solving skills that will be beneficial as they enter the school system. Pre math and pre reading activities are worked into the program to get children thinking, learning and discovering!
Kindergarten children will have the opportunity to mentor the Jr. K's on their off-K days. They will get the opportunity to enhance the skills they are learning in kindergarten as they work closely with the Jr. K kids!
Children are ready for Jr. K when they are 4 years of age, and Kinder kids can register for off-K days!
So this means there are 3 different program options for 4-6 year olds!
1) Full time child care- children 4 years of age attending every day
2) JrK (aka Nursery School) This part time program runs on K days. So while the 'big' kinders are away at school, we have a JrK/Nursery School type program for 4 hours a day. This program offers care for 4 hours a day. From September to the end of January the program is available from 9am-1pm on days 1 & 3 of the school cycle. In February, when term 2 starts, Jr K days move to Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Parents can choose to send their child every Jr K day, or choose the days then attend (days must be booked in advance with the assistance of the director)
3) Kindergarten children can choose to come every day. On K days they may come before and after school, or they may choose to only come on non K days.
All of these programs are based on availability, where full time will get priority.
Please call to see which program suits your child best!
